John Jacob inherited the land on which this house originally stood from his father Joachim, an original Berczy Settler. John Jacob was a reformer and friend of William Lyon Mackenzie.  
Architectural Attributes
Originally constructed of unburned clay brick in the Georgian Cottage style, this house was later covered with wood siding. The verandah and gothic window are recent restorations of the originals, based on a historic photograph.
Contextual Significance
John Jacob Lunau inherited the land on which the house first stood (8030 Warden Avenue) from his father Joachim, one of the original Berczy settlers.
