James Thomas House 141

Community Heritage Estates
Year Constructed:  1856
Address: 14 David Gohn Circle
Research credit: Heritage Markham, Doors Open Markham
This is one of the few surviving houses built in a regional style still existing in the Markham Area. It exhibits details of both the Regency and Georgian styles of architecture. It also features an impressive second floor ‘Gothicised’ Palladian window under a center front gable. The house was originally located slightly to the north of its present location. James Thomas purchased the property in 1853 and in 1856 built this large home which remained in the family until 1921.
