Jack Carson
Jack Carson arrived in Markham in 1949 having served 1941 – 1945 in the Canadian Armed Forces in Britain, Italy, Holland and Germany. He has served the community of Markham through various venues, including:
• Elected Councillor, Village of Markham
• Elected Public School board of Markham, Chairman
• Appointed Markham District High School Board
• Appointed Committee of Adjustments, Chairman
• Three Children born and educated in Markham
• Established Carson and Weeks Insurance Company at 59 Main Street North, Markham. This new building received the Town of Markham 1980 Environmental Award.
• Retired 1987 – The business presently (April 4 2007) is carried on as a family business employing 25 people.
• Honourary life member of the Tennis Club
• Past Treasurer, warden and choir member of Grace Anglican Church
• Past Master Markham Union Lodge
• Past Principal Tyrian Chapter
• Past Kiwanian
• Volunteer for:
o Meals on Wheels
o Driver for Cancer Society
o Markham Food Bank
