Unionville Arms 258

Community Unionville
Year Constructed:  1870
Address: 189 Main Street
The Unionville Arms restaurant (189 Main Street) was the subject of a devastating fire this morning (November 30, 2007). Adjacent buildings were saved. This will likely have an impact on the Unionville streetscape.

The building dates from 1870 and served as a blacksmith shop, then a garage, a playhouse and a restaurant. It also was once one of the first Ford T dealerships in Ontario C. 1913. Davison sold the most Ford tractors in Canada in 2 consecutive years. Henry Ford Sr. presented him with an award at the Granite Club in Toronto. Davison was also a distinguished citizen serving on the Fair Board for 19 years, forming the Unionville Curling club, horse breeding, Clerk and Treasurer of Markham Township for 17 years
